The
HIDING PLACE:
A Home for Young Women in Crisis Situations
What
is The HIDING PLACE?
The Hiding Place is a residential facility where a
woman in crisis will be loved, cared for, and encouraged
through a healthy Christian family environment. We
establish women in a home structure and daily work/recreational
routine throughout their stay. During this time, they
also receive support with specialized care: medical,
education, and counseling.
Who
can receive help?
Any girl or woman, regardless of age, race, or religion,
who possesses the desire to be helped and who agrees
to abide by the rules of the house can receive help.
What
about the cost?
The Hiding Place is a 501c(3) tax-exempt organization
and is supported by charitable gifts, individual donations,
and fees for services. We also draw on commitments
from community resources and volunteers. For women
staying in the program, financial arrangements are
made on an individual basis according to their ability
to pay. In addition, the Hiding Place is an outreach
ministry of Rock City Church, and the ministry will
provide for any woman who has no source of income
or support.
| Services
Offered to Mothers |
Advocacy
Each
woman will be assigned a support family/person who will
befriend, encourage, and assist her during her stay
at The Hiding Place. A trained person will accompany
each girl to the hospital at the time of delivery and
will remain with her until after the birth of her baby.
Homemaking
Basic
domestic skills will be taught through participation
in household chores, and in meal planning and preparation.
Medical
Medical
care is provided by local physicians and nurses who
have volunteered their services to women residing at
The Hiding Place.
Education
Continuation
of each woman’s education is encouraged during
her stay by providing tutoring and guidance in academic
matters.
Counseling
Each
woman will be assisted in discovering how best to develop
her talents and abilities for a successful future as
a mother.
Recreation
In
order for the whole person to be developed, we recognize
the need for leisure time activities, such as family
outings, shopping, sporting events, handicrafts, and
hobbies.
