DID
YOU KNOW?
Grant proposals have been written for years by many
charitable organizations... BUT VERY FEW CHURCHES AND
CHRISTIAN SOCIAL MINISTRIES DO THIS!

...Social Welfare Research Institute (Boston College)
predicts that $40 Trillion to $136 Trillion will migrate
between generations over the next 50 years... $19.2 trillion
to $50.2 trillion will be spent on philanthropy by 2052...
(New York Times article).
OUR
UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT GIVES AWAY
OVER $57 BILLION A YEAR IN GRANTS
God
continues to give vision to pastors and church leaders,
but many do not have the provision to make the dreams
they are receiving happen. One resource that is available
to help make some of those God visions a reality is grants.
Grants
are financial gifts given by government, corporations,
philanthropist and private funders who have a desire to
help those in need. Funds may be designated for various
communities or for international projects. Grants never
have to be paid back to the funder.
Our Ministries of Compassion have been getting grants for over 15 years. Our first grant was won in 1991 for our Nehemiah House program for men. We have now received well over $15 million in grants for all of our social ministries. Grants have come from foundations, corporations, government agencies. In addition we have received donations of such in-kind gifts as buildings, computers, food, vehicles, and other such items that we use for our programs.
Our continued desire is to be good stewards of what God has given us to do. But also aid other ministries, churches and outreaches on how they can also secure grant funds and in-kind gifts.
Great
Funding Resources
There
are some great resources available via the internet
or a local library to start your grant seeking efforts.
Two good websites are The
Foundation Center and Catalog
of Federal Domestic Assistance.
In your local library you may have a Cooperating Collection
from the Foundation Center that has great resources.
The Cooperating Collection is a wealth of contacts,
broken down by state on private foundations and corporations
who are giving grant dollars. One of the best books
to help you on your road to grant writing is “The
Foundation Center’s Guide to Proposal Writing.”
See if you library has it to get you started. You
can learn more about Cooperating Collections and purchase
this book at The
Foundation Center.
The following list of additional websites will assist
you with learning more about various funding opportunities
and finding great books and resources to increase

HABAKKUK
2:2-3
Then the Lord answered and said:
Write the vision and make it plain on tablets that
he may run who reads it,
for the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries wait for it;
Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.
