Rock
City Church has been working to influence the city of
Baltimore for Jesus Christ for many years. The church
has experienced growth since 1983 when Bishop Bart Pierce
came to Baltimore. Bishop Pierce and his wife, Coralee,
were saved through the ministry of Rev. John and Anne
Gimenez, pastors of the Rock Church at Virginia Beach,
Virginia. Within months after Pastor's arrival in Baltimore,
the congregation outgrew the basement of a large old
home where it had been meeting. They moved into a newly
erected sanctuary adjacent to the old home and atop
the hill on Cromwell Bridge Road. A Christian Academy
was established the same year, 1983.
As
the Body continued to grow, the church began to build
again. In 1986, the Rock Church Family Life Center
was dedicated. Just months later, it was declared
debt-free. The building served as their sanctuary
for nine years and was used for Rock City Church Academy
until 1996.
The
Church has continued to grow over the years. The current
3,000 seat sanctuary was completed in 1995. Then,
in December, 1998, to reflect our vision and heart
for the city, we officially changed our name to Rock
City Church. The Lord has spoken prophetically that
Rock City Church of Baltimore would see a harvest
of souls. There is great anticipation and expectancy
for what God will do. The history of RCC has been
rich, but the work has just begun. As the Church grows
in numbers, so it does in the ability to transform
lives, to end despair, and to offer hope through Jesus
Christ our Lord.
